Is anyone else having as hard of a time adjusting back to the real world post-holiday as I am? My new catchphrase might as well be, “Sorry, boss, my body forgot how not to sleep in after the holidays.” Just kidding. But it has been a crazy busy work week. So to wrap it up, I’m going to leave you with these quick glances at what my holiday vacation looked like.
I spent the first half of my time out east celebrating Christmas with my family in New Jersey’s Sussex County. We played a hell of a lot of darts, drank lots of wine, ate homemade Colombian food (an annual tradition to celebrate our family’s heritage with fistfuls of empandas, yucca frita and pique), ordered pizza, played cards, opened presents, went on a hike and ventured down to the local townie bar. We also braved New York City one day to celebrate Christmas with the other side of the family. We fought through crowds of people on the Highline, at Bryant Park and Rockefeller Center, then topped the night off with a homemade dinner and a guitar performance by my youngest cousin.
The second half of my vacation brought me back to the city for some much-needed sister time with my best friends from my hometown. One of them lives there now (and is totally owning it), so we all ventured in to explore her turf. We walked through Central Park, saw the decorations at the Plaza Hotel, wandered through the West Village, ate mussels and frites, had a drink in a little speakeasy above a Five Guys, drank endless flavors of bottomless mimosas at brunch, got out hair done (hilarious, but so fun), visited several bars to drink several drinks, visited Brooklyn and tons of Brooklyn friends from college and my time in the city and watched so much Friends on Netflix.
Let’s do it again next week?
